We've all seen the trending reels made by internet-savvy parents with daughters; the short-form videos are usually captioned with something like, "Having a daughter: Expectations versus Reality." The first half of these videos are set to calming – typically piano – music and feature clips of little girls having tea parties, sitting nicely, or cuddling with their parents. The music then changes to the iconic, screeching intro to Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song." Now, we see the "reality" of raising daughters through snippets of girls covered in mud, in the midst of tantrums, or climbing trees. 

These funny videos emphasize how girls are socialized to behave differently than boys, leading many to believe that raising daughters is somehow a walk in the park due to their generally mild temperament. However, girl dads and moms raising mini-me's know that girls are just as hyper, headstrong, and messy as boys.
